What are the jobs that supports slow living mental health?

    Live Better With Less

5h54m Hi guys! I got burnt out with my job, you know, that job that requires you to handle high intense pressure. So I'm curious as to what jobs promotes slow pace only. Thank you in advance! submitted by /u/scaredy_cat1111 [link] [comments]

I am trying to reframe/simplify my attitude toward my work, so I thought I'd share some of the things that I take time to consider each day.

    Live Better With Less

6h Warning: Long Hi all. Big fan of this subreddit. Back in March I started a job in government payroll. On paper it's a pretty cushy gig: Monday-Friday, 9-5, good pay, pension, work from home for now, etc. And the work itself is typically a good mix of straightforward processing combined with tasks that involve some thinking and problem-solving. The quantity of work, though, is impossible to keep up with, and I often find that it gives me some anxiety (albeit low-grade). Ma

Learning to Live Simply in my Walk Across America

    Live Better With Less

6h57m In January I made the decision to walk across the country. It was something I had been dreaming about since my grandma biked across when I was a kid. I felt like I had developed an inability to differentiate between the things I needed and the things I thought I needed, so I decided to shake things up, strip life down to the basics, and then determine the what was necessary by the volume its absence screamed at. It was the best decision I’ve ever made. Carrying everything o

    The Little Things

    Live Better With Less

7h Hello! I’ve been a longtime lurker on this sub, and at times, reading through posts is just what I need when I feel like I’m being sucked into wanting more and being stressed because of it. I live in a city and work a full-time job, but I’m fully satisfied with this at the moment. Rather than upending my lifestyle and making a big change, I’m seeking small day-to-day things I can change to live a simpler lifestyle (for the mental space, environmental reasons, and all

Simple living in dubai: how i keep a clear mind in the most materialistic city on earth…

    Live Better With Less

7h35m ill keep it short… i’ve been stranded in dubai over the last 5 months due to circumstances out of my control. long story short, I can’t really return home any time soon and i’ve basically had to adapt to life over here….. I often felt like I was wandering a humongolious desert , except my desert was endless hotel rooms and airbnb… i see folks on this sub heavily criticise the fast paced, success driven lifestyle, and i understand the negativity but let me offer my

Has anyone here successfully reduced their garbage production and like to share their experience?

    Live Better With Less

13h30m I have been living on bare-land for four years now and it’s been amazing how difficult it is to not have bags and bags of garbage. It’s been a long transition and I still buy my drinking water and some food items. I’m finally down to about a grocery bag every two weeks or so but it hasn’t been easy. It’s like a magnifying glass has been put on how much packaging is used for food and shipping (Amazon purchases). submitted by /u/OverOnTheWildSide [link] [comments]

    Feeling lost

    Live Better With Less

1d So I feel like I’ve lost myself this year. I’ve kind of always had a clear direction in life. I honestly haven’t had many dips as far as where my future was going. While I was in high school I was working at subway and became in instant saving machine. I would only spend my tips and put the rest of my paycheck away. I was able to finance a 350z all while being in high school. As soon as I was eligible I instantly became a manager. When I look back things were so simple

Getting a new night shift job

    Live Better With Less

1d Hello everyone, I recently graduated through the pandemic in Hotel Management and have been the front office manager at a couple hotels for five years. Recently I have noticed my job stressing me out and my bosses becoming becoming more and more controlling and blaming me for things I have nothing to do with. So, in order to better myself and give myself a more structured lifestyle (i.e. not being called in constantly and given an absurd amount of work to do), I have an inter

Simple living to accommodate mental illness.

    Live Better With Less

1d Just checking in with any other simple livers who are diagnosed with mental illness. I am diagnosed with bipolar disorder and general anxiety disorder and a simple life helps me a lot. I work my four days a week in an exceptionally easy position where I am paid enough to live comfortably. I have no aspirations for career advancement, I don’t want to pursue further university and, despite being stable, know it’s not a good option for me health wise. My house is my safe hav

Pay off debt faster with overtime or take the balanced path and avoid burnout?

    Live Better With Less

1d I’m glad I found this sub. Just started using Reddit not too long ago. This is actually my first post. It’s exciting to know people are trying to live more simply like myself. I see a lot of “go-getters” out there (pre-pandemic but mostly online now) preaching the grind life, like everyone who isn’t part of it is missing out. I was there once. I thought I wanted to start a personal training business/own my own gym but it wasn’t genuine. I now work on IT (like many

I'm satisfied with my life, but it doesn't align with this sub.

    Live Better With Less

1d Even nonconformists feel the need to confirm. The usual posts I see get popular are the "I quit my six figure job to drive a bus!" or "I bought a homestead and hope YouTubers and Tik Tokers can save me!" But here's the thing. I like my life. I work in IT in a small-ish company and my wife is a nurse supervisor. We live in a 1,500 sqft home with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. And we have things. We're both self taught cooks and have pots, pans, knives, cho

Why is everything so fast paced?

    Live Better With Less

1d Basically I want to live a more simpler life because I feel like this fast paced world we are living in today is too fast for me and I cannot keep up. I'm a naturally slower person and this fast paced nature makes me feel bad that I cannot produce good quality work in 5 minutes. submitted by /u/Anon235435 [link] [comments]

The most enjoyable part of my simple day...

    Live Better With Less

1d I've been a lurker here for awhile. I had the big, unaffordable house, the credit cards maxed out, the bills piled up, the newest car, the BIG IMPORTANT JOB I needed to afford all those things in life that I thought would make me happy (and, shockingly I was miserable). And an addiction to go along with all that so I could "cope" with and face each day. Around 5 years ago I went through a crisis where I left that all behind me. I became unemployed and pretty poor

Some contractions in the concept of simple living

    Live Better With Less

2d I've recently been thinking about how to simplify my life. I live in an urban area. I really dislike being near all the traffic, noise, and trash everywhere. On the plus side, I also live next to a big beautiful park, which I pay nothing to use. It even has tables and chairs I can sit at to read or just enjoy watching the birds and trees. I occasionally look at a condo or house an hour away, as my pipe dream is to live on a few acres with a simple house. I do want to make

Regarding opting out while on the margins

    Live Better With Less

2d I seldom see any discussion here about the consequences of genuine simple living. There's the simple living lifestyle backed by a high wage, rental property income, and so on. Then there's the simple living that most of us can actually pursue. You may have seen that algorithms are starting to rule our lives. Real consequences to simple living, voluntary simplicity, opting out, or whatever terms and phrases fall into that umbrella of reducing your economic and/or workp

Does anyone else strive to work Part Time instead of Full Time?

    Live Better With Less

2d It seems the attitude much of society has is to “work hard; hustle; be ambitious, make as much money as you can, etc”. Now I, on the other hand, have a desire to live more minimally where I can have the money I need by just working part time about 20 hours/week. Instead of “hustling, being super ambitious, a ‘go getter,’” I’d prefer to give a company about 20 hours of my time and have that freedom to live how I choose. I’d choose the lower stress. I’d still

How do you honor rest in an unsustainably, production-hungry world?
